I have had the pleasure of “field testing” LimbSaver products for Archery and Firearms for several years. Most recently, I got a chance to test the new products for the popular AR line of rifles.

	The package I received from LimbSaver was the new AR/M4 Assault combo pack. This package contains a snap-on recoil pad, pro handgun grip and a sharpshooter X-ring. The package is small, but the results are huge - let me explain. I own a DPMS 5.56 / .223 AR; the recoil isn’t much at all in a semi-automatic rifle of this caliber, so why a recoil pad?   First, you can change the upper to another caliber, perhaps a .308, and then you might want that recoil pad if you shoot a lot. Another advantage of the recoil pad is that it provides a stable platform for shoulder mounting your AR. It keeps it exactly where it’s supposed to be when performing tactical maneuvers such as searching rooms. It doesn’t slip and slide on your shoulder or vest especially in warm weather, and it does help reduce muzzle jump allowing the shooter to get back on target faster.   The pro handgun grip fits right on the pistol grip area of my AR like a glove. This gives it a more secure grip which is important for faster follow-up shots. LimbSaver makes this same grip for a variety of handguns too. The package claims that it is a non-slip grip even when wet, so…what did I do? I dunked my hand in the backyard pool and found out that the grip is still secure while shooting even with a wet hand.   This brings us to the sharpshooter X-ring that slides onto your barrel. I already knew this product worked as I have one on my 30-06, and my son has one on his 7mm-08. This sharpshooter X-ring will definitely tighten your groups. It simply reduces the accuracy-robbing vibrations of the barrel when shooting, making the rifle that more accurate. It helped my son take a 200-lb. Black Bear when he was 15. When I tried to put these items on my AR, I found out that a generous dose of gun oil on the pistol grip and X-ring will make that task an easy-to-do project. They install in a snap and made my AR look really neat. The X-ring does exactly what the package says it will do…it tightens your groups with over-the-counter ammunition; no need to spend extra money for custom reloads. My 100-yard groups shrunk an average of ½ inch to almost an inch.

Every time I get a new product, I have to try to prove the manufacturers’ claims wrong. Every time I get a LimbSaver product, I just can’t do it. They tell the truth.
